I've posted about this elsewhere, but have neglected to write about it here for reasons unknown. At any rate, I've been slowly working on an online compilation focusing on Canadian hardcore (depending on your definition). The main purpose is to point out what's good right now in Canada and give some cross promotion for everyone involved. Similar things have been done before and more recently, and I'd hope they'd be done again in the future. It would be impossible to get tracks from every band that you or I think are deserving of being on the comp, but I'm going to do my best.
If you're in a band that meet the criteria of grind, "power violence", doom, experimental, fastcore, noise, or whatever else (note: B9 hardcore need not apply), see the information below.
- 1 track of any length submitted in any of the following formats: .wav, .flac, .aif, .alac (no MP3s)
- the track would preferably be unreleased at the present time but that does not mean it has to be exclusive to this compilation. think of this as a sampler more than anything else. if you have no unreleased material, any old track will do.
- send your submission to absurd.exposition [[at]] gmail [[.dot.]] com along with your website or email address and what release the track is from (if any)
- deadline October 1st (currently negotiable)
A number of bands have asked and have been asked to submit tracks and there's been a few verbal confirmations but no actual tracks have been submitted yet. Pass the word along. I know there's a lot of you out there, some better than others, but you're there nonetheless.
Concept for the next compilation is already being worked on with a specific focus on the Vancouver area. More info on that later.
